Here is a true collaboration of local New Brunswick companies coming together to make a truly local product, Sean Dunbar from Picaroons, Sean Boyd from Red Whale Coffee and Todd Grant from Speerville Mills!
Picaroons Brewery from Fredericton has made a rendition of there popular stout “Timber Hog” and have added some special local ingredients i.e. 5 lbs Red Whale Espresso, 100 lbs of Speerville Oats and the love and care of the Picaroons Brew Master.
This collaboration has been the result of several years of Sean from Red Whale making suggestions to Sean Dunbar of Picaroons to make a beer with Red Whale Coffee in it.
It has happened this November 2008 and the result is a fantastic beer with great body, fine balance and the light sweetness of dark chocolate!
Chef Jessie Vergen of Ale House, Saint John is featuring the “Timber Hog Stout” and will be creating his own spin on culinary delights to have the stout accompany.

Lead Barista Position @ the Red Whale

Tuesday, December 9th, 2008

The Red Whale is looking to expand our team with a key position of “Lead Barista”. This position will be a position of leadership, responsibilty and growth.

“In English jargon, the term “barista” refers to one who has acquired some level of expertise in the preparation of espresso-based coffee drinks. Within certain circles, its meaning is expanding to include what might be called a “coffee sommelier;” a professional who is highly skilled in coffee preparation, with a comprehensive understanding of coffee, coffee blends, espresso, quality, coffee varieties, roast degree, espresso equipment, maintenance, latte art, etc.

The word barista (plural: baristi [masculine or mixed sex] or bariste [feminine]) is of Italian origin. In Italy, a barista is a “bartender,” who typically works behind a counter, serving both hot (such as espresso) and non-alcoholic beverages.

If this sounds like something you would be interested in and are willing to make the commitment, then give us a call or email us @ info@redwhalecoffee.com
